M/S Stockholm

With space for just 12 guests, M/S Stockholm offers one of the most personal and intimate small-ship expedition experiences in Svalbard and Northern Norway. Originally built in 1953 for the Swedish National Maritime Administration, she is a true piece of Scandinavian maritime history. After a complete refit in 1998, she began a new career as a comfortable and characterful expedition ship, perfectly suited for expedition cruises in the Arctic. To enhance exploration, the ship is equipped with two Zodiacs, and you will be accompanied by two knowledgeable guides with a true passion for these remote regions.

With her beautiful brass details and wooden decks, M/S Stockholm is a stunning piece of maritime history, loved for her warm and characterful interior. With space for just twelve guests, every voyage offers a personal and relaxed atmosphere. The small group size allows flexibility without queuing, quick landings and a strong sense of expedition spirit. All CO₂e emissions are measured across operations, including expedition cruises, and trips are carbon-offset through investments in climate projects. The company states that it continues working to reduce emissions.

Waste Management

The company participates in the UNEP Clean Seas initiative through AECO, supporting the reduction of single-use plastics on Arctic expedition vessels. Travelers also participate in Clean Up Svalbard, collecting marine litter and waste from Arctic coastlines.

Citizen Science Programs

For more than a decade, data on marine mammals observed during expeditions has been collected and sent to the Norwegian Polar Institute for research. Travelers are also encouraged to develop greater awareness of Arctic ecosystems, wildlife and climate-related challenges.

Local First Initiative / Communities

For every passenger traveling to Svalbard, NOK 150 is contributed to the Svalbard Environmental Protection Fund. Since the contribution was introduced in 2007, more than NOK 2 million has been contributed to conservation projects. The company is also a founding member of AECO, promoting responsible and environmentally friendly tourism in the Arctic.
