Antarctica Travels was founded by Alicia Petiet some 24 years ago. Back in 2000, she was the first independent agent in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego to sell Antarctic voyages. Back then she noticed travellers arriving in Ushuaia looking for a last minute Antarctic trip were not being adequately served. Now, after more than two decades, Antarctica Travels is a thriving company run by a passion fueled team led by Carolina, a seasoned expedition guide and Polar Region specialist with more than 25 years of first hand and solid experience in the Travel Industry.
The Antarctica Travels’ team takes pride in being the only Polar Travel Specialist to have been on board all vessels sailing in High Latitudes to both the Arctic and Antarctic oceans. Amongst Alicia, Caro and the team we completed well over 300 voyages and we have friends and personally know members of the expedition team on board every vessel we represent.

Since 2025, Antactica Travels proudly joined one of Patagonia’s most meaningful ecological restoration initiatives, organized by Amigos de la Patagonia Foundation in partnership with Lanín National Park. Alongside more than 350 volunteers, park rangers, scientists, local communities and partner organizations, we participated in planting 10,000 native Araucaria (Pehuén) trees to restore a unique forest at the foot of the Lanín Volcano in Neuquén, that had been severely damaged by wildfires.
Antarctic Ambassadors is an IAATO initiative that encourages scientists, guides, students, and tourism operators to share what they have learned from Antarctica and turn that connection into positive action.
Scattered across the globe, the Antarctic Ambassador community can be explored through an interactive map, where thousands of participants are represented by points on the map.
Supported and promoted by IAATO, this community brings together people from all over the world who have made it their commitment to incorporate environmentally responsible actions into their everyday lives. What begins with simple individual actions can evolve into active participation in broader conversations about some of the key challenges facing Antarctica today: climate change, the limits and impacts of tourism, and the effects of human activity on marine wildlife, among other concerns about the future of the Antarctic environment.
To join the community, applicants must register through the programme’s website and complete the Ambassador Challenge. Applications open periodically online, usually in October, and candidates are required to meet a number of criteria.
Among these, applicants must demonstrate their ability to communicate and share knowledge related to conservation. They must also show that they are taking environmentally responsible actions within their own local communities.
