    Highlights

This is an expedition that follows Norway’s Arctic coast northward into the High Arctic. The journey begins in the Lofoten Islands, where midnight sun, fishing villages, white-sand beaches and dramatic mountain scenery create a striking introduction to the north. From there, the voyage continues along Norway’s far northern coast through Tromsø, the North Cape region and Vardø, before crossing the Barents Sea toward Svalbard. You will explore Svalbard, where glaciers, fjords, research settlements and the ice edge reveal a wilder and more remote Arctic world.

    • Explore the Lofoten Islands, where fishing villages, fjords, white-sand beaches and the midnight sun reveal some of Northern Norway’s most recognisable mountain-and-sea scenery.
    • Sail into Trollfjord for scenic cruising, then continue north along Norway’s coast, where fjords, mountains, sea cliffs and the Barents Sea create a wider northern landscape.
    • From Tromsø to the North Cape and Vardø, step into Northern Norway’s towns and border communities, seeing different sides of Arctic life, landmarks and local history.
    • In Svalbard, watch for Arctic seabirds, seals, walruses, reindeer, Arctic foxes and the tundra plants that grow briefly but strongly in the polar summer.
    • Venture above 80° North into the sea-ice zone of the Arctic Ocean, slowing down along the ice edge while watching for possible signs of polar bears.
    • Visit Longyearbyen and Ny-Ålesund to learn about Arctic life, scientific research and the history of human exploration in the High North.

    Map/Itinerary

Today please arrive at Harstad/Narvik Airport by your own and we will meet at the airport during 10am to 11am.

After arrival, you will be transferred by coach to a local restaurant for lunch.

In the afternoon, continues to Henningsvaer, with photo stops at the famous football field and scenic viewpoint, followed by free time in the village. Dinner is at your own expense.

In the evening, transfer to Stamsund (or nearby area) and check in at the hotel.

    Day 2Explore the Lofoten

After a Scandinavian buffet breakfast at the hotel, begin a full day of Lofoten sightseeing. In the Morning, we will visit Nusfjord for an inside tour of the historic fishing village.

Then continues to Å Village, a traditional fishing village near the southern end of the archipelago.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the journey continues to Sakrisøya and Hamnøy for further photo stops. Continue to Reine, one of the most iconic locations in northern Norway, where steep mountains rise above sheltered bays and red fishermen’s cabins.

Dinner is served at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel in the evening.

    Day 3Svolvær, Norway (Embarkation)

After breakfast at the hotel, guests join a 3-hour 3-in-1 Safari RIB Tour. The experience includes a sea safari element and a meal featuring fish soup with bread and butter, plus all-you-can-eat brown crab served as part of lunch. After the tour, transfer to Haukland Beach for a photo stop, then continue to Svolvær for embarkation.

In the afternoon, board the ship and complete check-in formalities. The ship departs Svolvær in the late afternoon, beginning the expedition cruise northward.

After the ship leaves port, we will first sail to the famous Trollfjord for scenic cruising. Here, you will see steep mountains rising above narrow fjord waters, creating one of Northern Norway’s most beautiful natural scenes.

    Day 4Tromsø, Norway

Today the ship arrives in Tromsø, often regarded as a gateway to the Arctic. In June, Tromsø is bathed in the light of the midnight sun, with days that seem to stretch endlessly into night. Fresh Arctic air, surrounding fjords and mountain landscapes give this northern Norwegian city a bright, open summer atmosphere. It combines an easy urban rhythm with the vastness of the high north.

    Day 5Honningsvåg, Norway

The ship calls at Honningsvåg, the gateway to the North Cape region. Under the midnight sun, the days feel almost endless, and the coast, open tundra and Barents Sea take on a quiet, expansive Arctic atmosphere. From here, guests can travel toward the North Cape, one of Europe’s most symbolic northern landmarks, where a dramatic sea cliff faces the open ocean and gives the powerful feeling of standing at the edge of the continent.

    Day 6Vardø, Norway

Vardø sits at Norway’s far northeastern edge, facing the Barents Sea with a strong sense of Arctic frontier. Far from the usual travel routes, it is a place of wide skies, crisp sea air, rugged coastlines and open northern horizons. As a gateway to the Varanger Peninsula, Vardø is known for its rich birdlife, coastal culture and distinctive historical atmosphere, offering you  a powerful impression of Norway’s easternmost edge.

Day 7Crossing the Barents Sea (At Sea)

Today we will sail north to Svalbard and you may enjoy the moments on board. Joining a lectures, spend time on deck, watch for seabirds, review photographs or simply enjoy the feeling of crossing the North Atlantic under the long northern summer light.

    Day 8South Spitsbergen Fjord Region

Over the coming days, the expedition vessel will navigate through different regions of the Svalbard archipelago. The daily route and activities are determined by the Captain and Expedition Team, based on weather conditions, sea state, ice conditions, and wildlife activity.

Exploration may include Zodiac cruising, Zodiac landings when conditions allow, and onboard observation and interpretation. No fixed itinerary is promised, ensuring flexibility and the best possible experience in this remote and ever changing polar environment.

South Spitsbergen presents a striking contrast to the open landscapes of the southeast, featuring deeply incised fjords, extensive glacier systems and steep mountain terrain. Located within the South Spitsbergen National Park, this area is one of the most visually dramatic and geologically diverse regions of the archipelago. Exploration in the southern fjords typically centers on Zodiac cruising, with opportunistic landings when conditions permit. Glacial fronts, drifting ice and constantly changing light conditions provide insight into glacier dynamics and Arctic landscape evolution. The region is also home to seals, seabirds and, on occasion, polar bears moving along the ice edge.

Possible landing or cruising areas may include:

    • Hornsund: One of the most iconic fjord systems in southern Spitsbergen. The fjord extends deep inland and is surrounded by high mountains and multiple glaciers flowing directly into the sea. Zodiac cruising allows close observation of glacier fronts, floating ice and potential wildlife activity.
    • Gåshamna: A historic bay near the outer part of the fjord, once used by early whalers and Arctic explorers. If conditions allow, a brief landing may provide the opportunity to combine natural interpretation with an introduction to the region’s early human history.

    Day 9Pack Ice Exploration

The pack ice represents the highest latitude and most unpredictable environment of the voyage. The boundary where drifting sea ice meets open water. The vessel navigates slowly along the ice edge, with opportunities to observe seals and, potentially, polar bears from the ship. Activities here are primarily ship based, with no fixed landing plans.

    Day 10-11Northwest Spitsbergen National Park

This region represents the classic heart of Svalbard exploration, where glaciers, fjords, wildlife, and human history intersect. Relatively stable conditions often allow for a combination of Zodiac cruising and shore activities, making it an ideal introduction to both the natural environment and the human story of the High Arctic.

Possible landing and cruising sites may include:

    • Ny-Ålesund: One of the northernmost permanent research settlements in the world, hosting international scientific institutions focused on climate, glaciology, and polar ecology. Ny-Ålesund is also closely linked to the legacy of polar exploration, having served as a base for Roald Amundsen and other pioneers during the early era of Arctic aviation. A visit here offers insight into both the historic and modern dimensions of human presence in the High Arctic.
    • Kongsfjorden and Krossfjorden: Deep fjords extending inland, framed by steep mountains and tidewater glaciers. Zodiac cruising offers close views of glacier fronts, drifting ice, and wildlife along the shoreline.
    • Smeerenburg: A seventeenth century whaling site on Amsterdam Island. Remnants of foundations and historical remains reflect the brief but intense period of early human activity in the Arctic.

Day 12Longyearbyen fly back to Oslo (Disembarkation)

In the morning, the ship arrive at Longyearbyen. After breakfast, disembarkation procedures take place.

If time permitting, enjoy a brief opportunity to explore the town center of Longyearbyen, one of the northernmost settlements on Earth, where polar research, mining history, and everyday Arctic life coexist.

You will be transferred to the airport for boarding the dedicated charter flight to Oslo, concluding your journey through.

The information of charter flight will be available in March 2027. We highly recommend staying an extra night in Oslo after the charter flight arrives.
