CO2 Emissions

Hybrid propulsion helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Fleet-wide GHG emissions are measured under the GHG Protocol. GHG emission intensity per passenger was reduced by 31% from 2019 to 2024 through fleet improvements, route optimization and higher occupancy.

Waste Management

MAGS converts waste into inert solid carbon, reducing waste volume and disposal needs. Reusable water bottles and onboard refill stations reduce single-use plastics. Packaging and disposable materials are also being reduced across the fleet.

Citizen Science Programs

Citizen science activities include seabird surveys and whale observations through HappyWhale. Guests can participate in selected scientific activities, while polar experts and researchers share ongoing wildlife and ecosystem research onboard.

Local First Initiative / Communities

Local guides and community partnerships support sustainable tourism and local economic development. Community initiatives include local hiring, infrastructure support, food banks and cultural/language programs. Partnerships with local organizations help create authentic community-based experiences.
